Mark Libby and his Happy Hackers were at it again - North Kitsap Trail Maintenance - Saturday, Apr 12. This time at Quiet Place Park in Kingston.

This work party focused on trail maintenance. The specific tasks listed below included cutting back the stickers and ferns that are trying to reclaim the trails, and cleaning up the fallen debris from the winter storms. The work party was comprised of fellow Rotarians and other community volunteers including: Tim Carr, Geoff Schmidt, Sam Thacker, David Fortune, David Zinkbon, Neil Diercks, Brian Stenehjem, Chris Gilbreath, Mike Martin, and Bill Beaudoin. As outlined by Mark, work party tasks were:
1) Cut back encroaching brush: salmon berry, blackberry, nettles, ferns and downed limbs along trails.
2) General Trail Improvement: Remove or cover raised roots and other tripping hazards in the trails
3) Consolidate fallen limbs to Improve Park Aesthetics: Cut and/or pull back the large fallen limbs along the trail edges.
4) Plant trees along North side of Park. Install wire cages to protect cedar tree seedlings.
5) Rake debris & pine cones from trail.
6) Install poles to “turnpike” trail along bluff to the south of bench.
