North Kitsap Blood donors answer the call!

Kingston - Answering an emergency appeal for blood donors, on August 23

Kingston/North Kitsap residents set a one-day record for blood donated here. 53 units

of blood were collected, a fifty percent increase from recent averages. Earlier,

Bloodworks Northwest, which collects, tests, and distributes lifesaving blood to some 90

hospitals in Washington, Oregon, and Alaska, set out the emergency appeal after

Pacific Northwest inventories of type O blood dipped alarmingly low. Kingston/North

Kitsap Rotary Club sponsors the community blood drives, supplying event promotion

and support staffing. According to Jon Sole, Rotary chair for the blood drive, some of

the success of this drive may be because it was held at the new Village Green

Community Center. The next blood drive at Village Green is set for October 18.

Kingston/North Kitsap Rotary Club works to improve lives in the community and

beyond. It’s 2016 focus is on food for kids, funding to complete Village Green

Community Center build-out, and funding a community electronic reader-board.

Meetings occur Wednesday’s at 11:45 a.m. at Village Green Community Center in
