Kingston North Kitsap Rotarians were reminded at their evening meeting Nov 6 that November is Rotary Foundation month.
Rotary District 5020 Fundraising Chair Tracy Duerfeldt "zoomed" into the meeting to explain the Rotary Foundation's seven areas of worldwide focus: polio eradication, water/sanitation, basic education/literacy, community economic development, peace building, maternal and child health, and the environment.
The Foundation awarded grants totaling $315m in 2023; it has $1.3b in assets and is recognized as one of the top five charities in the world. 89% of its wealth goes to programs and operations.
Grants are spread around the world, and here at home through grants to local Clubs to support local projects. Non-contributing Club members were urged to participate, with the goal of 100% participation. As giving levels increase, the Club is able to access increased grant levels.
