What's the story at Port Gamble Theater?  That's what Kingston North Kitsap Rotarians learned from Brad Camp at their Jan 22 Noon meeting at Village Green Community Center.

The Theater opened in 1906, staging vaudeville and movies, including silent, over the years.  It went dark in 1958, with the showing of Around the World in Eighty Days (Camp thinks.)  From 1958 until 2011 it was used only occasionally for local community events.  Working with Olympic Property Group, in 2010, a local community theater troupe staged a Christmas production at the theater, and a new life was born as a family-friendly theater.
Since 2011 several live theater productions were staged each year at Port Gamble Theater.  An energetic new staff is kicking things up a notch in 2025, with the addition of live concerts, labeled Concerts at the Barn, and vintage movies.  Bluegrass performer Rachel Sumner brings her brand of "beyond folk" to the theater Feb 22.  Apr 26, Willy Porter performs.  In addition to concerts, and live theater, plans are afoot to bring vintage movies back, with a hope to have the first film (Around the World in Eighty Days?) in May.  The venue is said to have wonderful acoustics.
