Long time Rotarians and community leaders Dan and Nancy Martin were saluted and offered warm farewell wishes at the Sep 4 evening meeting of Kingston North Kitsap Rotary Club.

Nancy is a charter member of the Club, there at the beginning twenty years ago.  Dan has served the Club in many capacities over the years, including his year as President following the country's economic downturn in 2007-2008.  As Rotarian Doug Hallock recounted, both have been true leaders in this community.

Chief among their accomplishments, of course, is the Village Green Community Center.  Both are credited with the question, "why not?"  Both, but especially Nancy, had a hand in the vision for the Community Center, and the funding and the building of the center.  Nancy's famous idea, Pie in the Park, to raise money for the Center recently auctioned pies for the sixteenth year.

Dr. Tom La Mar, former Club member, returned to wish the couple well as they transition their lives to be nearer family in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.  Yes, THAT Rehoboth Beach.

A gift of remembrance was presented to the Martins; a coffee table book full of pictures of their Kingston adventures over the years.  Sail on Dan and Nancy.  You will be missed and roundly remembered.
