Kingston North Kitsap Rotarians had a visit from South Tacoma Rotarian Mic McDaniels at their noon meeting, April 23.

McDaniels spoke about work being facilitated in India over the last couple of decades. The image of this high school class valedictorian juxtaposed with the photo of her living quarters, got our attention
The girl ,who aspired to a medical career, lived in the 'Pipe Village' - a town where concrete sewer pipe is manufactured under indentured servitude conditions. The pipes that are damaged and can't be used as sewer infrastructure are converted to living quarters.
Witnessing the unlikely circumstance in which the young girl's ambition was born in the Pipe Village was an 'aha' moment for Mic and has led to his involvement in several India projects focused on educational and vocational opportunities for young people. The current project he'd like our Rotary club to help fund is educating RN's in rural India. The International Committee is in favor!
