Kevin Mayfield spoke to Kingston North Kitsap Rotarians at their August 21 meeting. Kevin is Founding Director and Professor of graduate and undergraduate programs at Seattle University. His field involves study of non-profit organizations. He said the non-profit sector is all about the mission. People have to be able to understand what is the goal of every non-profit to support it in any way. He said fewer are giving to charity - 2018 - but total donations are at a record level. Some of the reason may be the new IRS tax code limiting deductions for non-profit giving. Another source may be “event fatigue,” when an event becomes “tired” after years of staging.
