The 15th Annual Swing for Rotary Golf Tournament at White Horse is in the books.  And it was another success.

By the numbers.  There were 87 golfers.  That is a slight increase from Covid-slump days.  They reached into their wallets, purses, credit card accounts, and change jars to make a positive impact in North Kitsap.  Final accounting pending, estimates put proceeds at $20k.
Another number.  That of the Rotarians on-site to greet, register, organize, cheer, and salute the golfers.  In total, twenty-two, and counting.  It takes a village to pull this off, and they were there.
A few "twists" were added in 2022 to up the fun and value for golfers.  On hole number sixteen, players were greeted with a chance to move to within 100-yards of the green by hitting a chip shot into a line of hula hoops.  For a small fee of $5.  One did.  Note to next year: make it easier.  On hole number one, for a $10 contribution to the Club treasury, players were offered a chance to blast their ball toward the green using an airgun.  Here, golfer Linda Voelker, with windage guidance from Club President and Artillery Officer Chris Gilbreath, prepares to fire her shot.

The winning team, with a net 54 (18-under), was the Mike Lambro group.  Observers in the foursome ahead of them testified "they did not need to buy airgun shots," as their drives easily exceeded 250-yards repeatedly.  Here they celebrate over a cold one after fleeing from the rain with the tournament trophy.  A newly added post-tourney hors d'oeuvre bar aided their celebration.

Jackie Wood, Tournament Chair and President-elect of Kingston North Kitsap Rotary Club, reminded everyone that community tournaments of this nature could not exist without the support of sponsors. The Latitude 48 Group was Major Sponsor of this year's event.  The Kingston Ale House and Windermere Real Estate sponsored the beverage cart.  Haselwood Auto Group sponsored the hole-in-one contest (none was recorded).  The Point Casino and Hotel sponsored the putting contest, while Liberty Bank sponsored closest-to-the-hole. After-golf, cornhole games were courtesy of Nothing Bundt Cakes.  Hole sponsors included Doug Hallock and Jessica Garrett, Kingston Filling Station, Cross Country Mortgage, 20/20 Eyecare, Windermere/Penrith Mortgage, Poulsbo CPA, and All-In Septic and Excavation.
