A visitor from South Tacoma Rotary Club spoke at the noon meeting of Kingston North Kitsap Rotary, Wednesday, August 29.  Mic McDaniel told of his Club's and District 5020's Nepal computer literacy initiative.

McDaniel has lived around the world in various capacities as a humanitarian volunteer.  He was especially taken by India, and nearby Nepal.  There, Nepal, he observed a huge import/export deficit; many young people, especially girls, relegated to low pay agriculture jobs.  Due to economic hardships, this leads many families to sell daughters into sex trafficking roles.  Nepal Computer Literacy program aims to teach young Nepalese computer skills, typing, and english as a second language to help the younger generation, their families and their communities improve.  They place computer skills classes where the highest incidence of human trafficking exists, Kathmandu.
The project has, to date, successfully trained two classes in India, and one in Nepal.  A second in Nepal is underway.  McDaniel has taken this project from Club level to District level, where he is asking District 5020 Clubs for grants in support.  For further information, Rotarians were asked to contact McDaniel at: Mister.Mic323@gmail.com.
