Kingston North Kitsap Rotarian Bill Bedoin received a Paul Harris Fellow Award at thAug 18 joint, evening meeting of the Noon Rotary Club and the Satellite Rotary Club. Presenting the award are Rotarians Doug Hallock and Helen Ralph. Congratulations, Bill. The Paul Harris Fellow recognition acknowledges individuals who contribute, or who have contributions made in their name, of $1,000 to the Rotary Foundation. Rotary established the recognition in 1957 to encourage and show appreciation for substantial contributions to the Foundation. Paul Harris is known as the founding father of Rotary International. In 1905, Harris and three other Chicago business leaders founded Rotary International. It has grown today into 1.2m members in 35k clubs worldwide. Rotary is where neighbors, friends, and problem-solvers share ideas, join leaders, and take action to create lasting change. The Aug 18 meeting is notable, for it is the first time the Club has moved its regularly scheduled Wednesday meeting from Noon to the evening, allowing for a joint meeting with the Satellite Club. Club President Chris Gilbreath said, “we talked to a lot of members, and they seemed to really enjoy it. We look forward to a similar event again.”
