Swing for Rotary Golf Tournament

Sandwiched between the PGA Tour Championship in Kiawah Island in May, and The Open in Northern Ireland in July, golf enthusiasts will find the 14th Annual Swing for Rotary Golf Tournament in Kingston, Jun 18.  At White Horse Golf Club.  There may be fewer television cameras, and crowds less threatening, but the golf will be a notch down.  And the fun will be a notch up.

Jump off Zoom, and jump on a great golf course on a Friday afternoon.  Unlike past Annual Rotary Tournaments, this one is straight ahead golf. No dinner.  No auction.  Have some fun, collect cash for your hole in one, or putting contest win.  Enjoy a quick lunch before your tee time, and unwind afterwards with libations and awards on the beautiful White Horse deck overlooking the 18th green.

Registration will open at 11a, with a shotgun start at 1p.  Golfers of all skill levels are invited.  This is not exactly a “hit-and-giggle” event, but it is close.  Rotarians like to have fun.  Put a group together.  Early registration is $396 for a foursome.  $198 for a twosome.  Register now at:  14th-annual-swing-for-rotary-golf-tournament.perfectgolfevent.com.

Major and Corporate sponsorships, tee sponsorships,19th Hole, and other sponsorships are still available as of this writing in Mid-May.  See the website for more information.  We thank sponsors to date, including: Haselwood Auto Group - Hole-in-One; Land Title Company - Practice Green; The Point Casino and Hotel - Putting Contest; Kitsap Credit Union - Driving Range; Columbia Bank - Beverage Cart.

Rotarian of the Year Announced

Kingston North Kitsap Rotary Club Immediate Past President Bill Maule presented two awards at the Club’s hybrid (in-person/zoom) meeting Wed, May 19, at Village Green Community Center in Kingston.

Named Rotarian of the Year was Chris Gilbreath.  Known for his ability to never say no, Chris is involved in Club - and community - activities, beyond that of about anyone we know.  He is President Elect of the Club.  He has been on work parties at the Club’s Scout Hall project.  He leads the Kingston Order Bombers.  He is on the Kingston North Kitsap Rotary Club Ale Trail Committee. And when an “i” needs dotting, or a “t” crossed, Chris is there.  Worthy honor.  Chris Gilbreath.  Rotarian of the Year.  Below, Chris (left), Club President Walt Elliott, and Bill Maule.

At the same ceremony, Past President Maule named Shaun Stephenson recipient of the President’s Leadership Award, citing the number of ways Shaun has contributed to the Club’s financial security, and success.  Unfortunately, Stephenson was not in attendance, due to his day job at Columbia Bank.

Argensal Next Bombing Target
After a successful mission over Kingston's Filling Station, Rotarian Order Bombers have set their sights on Argensal Foods, next Thursday, May 27, 3-5p for takeout only.

Never heard of them?  They operate a food truck (at Poulsbo Farmers Markets on Saturdays), they cater, and on Thursdays they serve up the best empanadas, pupas, and tamales in Kitsap County out of the Village Green Community Center.

Sabrina and Maria launched Argensal in 2019, concentrating on Argentinian and Salvadoran cuisine.  Sabrina was born and raised in Argentina; Maria was born and raised in El Salvador.  You might want to think about a Salvadoran style tamale - pork, chicken, or veggie, steamed in banana leaf.  Bite into a sweet or savory empanada - beef, chicken, spinach and cheese, creamed corn, capers, butternut squash, or apple.
This operation is takeout only.  Pre-order by contacting Sabrina and Maria at: argensalfood@gmail.com - or by phone at 360-930-9094.  Pick up at Village Green Community Center 3-5p, Thursday, May 27.  If unable to pick up by 5p, Rotary Coordinator Chris Gilbreath will make arrangement to "hold" your order for you.  Alert Chris you are "bombing":  ckgilbreath1@gmail.com - or - 360-710-4521.  Bring a friend, neighbor, or all the family, pickup and picnic in the park.
