At the direction of co-president David Winn, Kingston North Kitsap Rotarians held their Feb 19 meeting at Kingston's Scout Hall.

Winn welcomed Rotarians and local Scout leaders for their annual update on Scouting activities in North Kitsap.  Kingston North Kitsap Rotary Club is the charter organization for local Scouts, now known nationally as Scouting America.  Rotarian Doug Hallock set the scene with historical information on Boy Scouts of America.
Scoutmaster John Strand said the Troop had mostly doubled in size in the last year, now with 12 boys and 3 girls.  He talked about an upcoming Klondike event where local scouts will participate in regional skills competitions.  Scouts progress through the ranks, but, he said, only 4% become Eagle Scouts.  Local leaders are readying a program called Venturers for teen-agers who are not into badges and progressions, but desire outdoors challenges.
Lacey Cook is Cub Master.  Cub Scouts is a growing and dynamic group.  The Pack has grown from seven members to now, thirty. Their goal is to develop quality programs with solid curriculum.  For sheer energy and excitement, she invited members to the Pack Lego Derby, 1p, March 15, in the Scout Hall.
